There will be two non-comprehensive exams to assess concept comprehension. Each exam has a retake opportunity. See below for details.

Grading

According to the grade specification from the Grading Policies guide:

See below for more details on how exams are graded.

How are the exam grades calculated?

The exam grade is the average of the original in-person exam attempt and one asynchronous retake attempt. You have 1 week to complete the asynchronous retake attempt.

For example, if you earned a 62% on the original attempt and an 96% on the retake, then the average will be 79% (which is considered passing).

What is considered a passing average?

The exam average must be 70% or higher to be considered passing.

How well do I need to do on the original attempt?

For it to be technically possible to earn a passing average, you must earn a 40% or higher on the original attempt. This calculation assumes 1 perfect (100%) retake attempt.

Can I get extra exam attempts?

Yes, you can spend 1 token to gain an additional asynchronous retake attempt if you “earnestly participate” in the original retake attempt. However, this does not change the retake deadline. See the Token Economy for details.

Do I have to take the retake?
